Why I'm also happy to be a non-gaming nerd

While browsing reddit, I came across this blog post... and I decided to reply with a blog post instead of a comment!

I do play games, but am I in no way a gamer. I enjoy about 25 minutes of MW3 multiplayer once or twice a week, if that.

I was watching Geek Love the other day, and while I enjoyed the show, I didn't understand why they labeled geeks as cosplay con attendees. I don't dress up, or have fan doms, or attend cons, but I'm still a geek.

You don't have to game to be a nerd or a geek, but people seem to label us that way. Its kind of disheartening to see people judging us this way.

I'm a nerd because I can have a full on debate and discussion on Divs vs tables, and semantic HTML, and why your code sucks. The post office just happens to make me giddy, and I just happen to love the discovery channel. I know more Photoshop commands than you do. I'd rather be by myself than in a group, and can count my 'friends' on one hand. I have stamp and coin collections and had origami diagrams memorized in the 2nd grade. My awkwardness will probably make you awkward.

Apologies for taking so long to thank you for reading and replying to my blog post!

PS Tables suck. Divs forever! Even if I am a CSS retard.
